In case you’re just joining me on the Crochet Along, Esther from It’s all in a Nutshell put together this gorgeous project and I jumped in! The squares she chose are amazing and I’m learning a ton of new techniques! If you’d like to take a look at my previous squares, click here to go back to Week one.
Week Ten Part 1
So in case you didn’t catch it by the title, we have another two-part week! I like to highlight each design and anytime the CAL week has multiple designs, there is multiple posts. So this week, I’m going to show you the first design, Sweet and Fair by Julie Yeager. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because she also designed the Fantastic Square used in Week 7.
Sweet and Fair
But back to Week 10! This pattern, once again, starts off with a center medallion. And I love when this happens as I get to watch it materialize into a square. It’s like magic, those little buildup stitches transforming the shape: treble, double, half double, single, and then back up. Maybe it’s the OCD in me, but I find it fascinating!
All those treble clusters, be still my heart! Clusters and front post stitching, especially when it involves trebles, give the work a textured detail that I’m in love with. And with all the open spacing on top of it, this was definitely one of my favorite designs in this CAL.
This week only called for one colorway of each design, but I’d love to see it in many different colors. I may have to do something about that, especially since this one works up so quickly.
As with previous multi-design weeks, I’m going to hold off on the grid until I can show off the entire week. The second design is already finished, photographed and edited, but I’m still going to make you wait :D. In fact, Week 11 is all done too and I’m starting week 12 this weekend! Go me! for getting ahead for once. I finally realized that if I wanted to give this to its recipient for Christmas, I needed to get a move on! So no more slacking.
Keep creating. I know I will!
